Dear friends!
Please accept my invitation to give and not to count the cost.
We are always being made aware of the hunger and suffering in
so many countries in our world today!
You are invited to be generous with your help and prayers with the charities below:
Their Work is driven by:
HOPE - that the lives of children and families can
be transformed and their aspirations achieved.
The importance of family and relationship stability
for children: That a healthy society recognises the need
to support and value family life as the conerstone
on which it is built
A Year of Mercy
Practical ways you can help with your merciful works this year:
Mary’s Meals provides life-changing meals to some of the world’s
poorest children every school day.
They are a no-frills
charity with a simple idea that works: by providing one good meal in a place of
learning, children are drawn into the classroom where they can receive an
education that could one day free them from poverty.
Mary’s Meals is named
after Mary, the mother of Jesus, who brought up her own child in poverty. We
consist of, respect and reach out to people of all faiths and of none.
Their vision is that
every child receives one daily meal in their place of education. Working
together, they believe that can be achieved in this world of plent
y.
It
costs just £12.20
to
feed a child for a whole school year, so even the smallest amounts can have a
huge impact.
UK taxpayers can
increase the amount we receive by 25p for every £1 donated at no extra cost by
completing a
Gift Aid
declaration
.
During this
Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy we need to
give and not to count the cost.
Fast Day prayer
Lord, all good things come from you.
You are so loving and generous,
you fill our world with wonders.
Inspire us to open our hearts
and share your gifts, so that
those who are hungry may flourish.
Through your grace, we pray
all may celebrate fullness of life.
Help us to be more compassionate,
to be aware of your love in each person,
and to live as children of one family.
We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.
Mary, Mother of God, pray for us.
